our proposed plan
The proposed Gateway Family Redevelopment project (Gateway Family) located at 1345 Willow Road, is a 100% affordable housing project serving families and individuals earning up to 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) in San Mateo County. As part of the City’s Housing Element update process in 2013, the City of Menlo Park identified our site where more affordable housing can be provided through increased density. The property has been rezoned as High Density Residential (R-4-S), permitting 30units/acre. While this would allow for a maximum of 182 units, the proposed redevelopment is for a total of 140 units (net additional units of 58 from the 82 units that are currently on-site). Gateway Family will include the demolition of the existing 82 units, and the new construction of 140 units, which would provide an additional 58 net new units. Of the 140 units, 82 will be set-aside for the existing Gateway families that will be temporarily relocated during construction. The proposed unit composition is 66 1-bedrooms, 50 2-bedrooms, and 24 3-bedrooms. The 24 3-bedroom units are for the existing returning residents of Gateway. There will be no new 3-bedroom units added. In addition to providing 140 affordable homes, the redeveloped community will provide high quality on-site services free of charge to residents. Through its affiliate organization, MidPen Resident Services Corporation, MidPen provides onsite resident support services and programs to help residents advance. MidPen Resident Services has over 65 dedicated staff members and partners with a network of over 200 service providers. Each property has a unique resident services program, tailored to meet the specific population and goals the residents have, whether it is career-advancement, asset building, and/or obtaining self-sufficiency.
